Hi, I’m Sian—the heart behind Barking Pawfect! 🐾🤍
My journey into grooming began in an unexpected but deeply personal way. I originally worked as a teacher supporting young adults with additional needs. While I found the work incredibly rewarding, over time I experienced burnout and struggled with my mental health. I knew I needed a change—something that would help me reconnect with myself, lift my mood, and bring joy back into my everyday life.
At home, I was working with my own anxious dog, who found grooming a stressful experience. I began gently grooming him myself, and to my surprise, I found the process calming, rewarding, and fascinating. These small moments—bonding, focusing, being present—quickly became a lifeline. They gave me purpose and peace.
Curious to explore further, I began my professional grooming training in October 2019—on my birthday! Despite Covid slowing everything down, I stuck with it and proudly completed both my Level 2 and Level 3 City & Guilds qualifications by 2021. During this time, I continued gaining hands-on experience at the salon where I trained, all while still teaching and raising my little boy.
As my confidence and love for the craft grew, I started dreaming of something more: a calm, one-to-one grooming space built on empathy and understanding—especially for pets who find grooming overwhelming. I began building my own grooming studio (quite literally from the ground up!) and in February 2023, I proudly opened the doors to Barking Pawfect.
Now, every day I get to do what I love: create a gentle, caring environment where dogs and cats feel safe, respected, and relaxed. I understand how it feels to need a little extra patience, and I bring that same approach to every pet that comes through my door.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support has turned a difficult chapter into something truly meaningful, and I’m so grateful to every pet and person who’s joined the Barking Pawfect family.
